HOW TO CURB ILLEGAL CIGARETTE ISSUES IN INDIA?

You all know that illegal cigarette is an issue in India because it almost cuts 25% of the total taxation of the Indian government from the cigarette industry.

The related information is available on the website of the tobacco institute of India.

I think we can curb these issues in this lockdown for forever and we also want to work upon this because it can be done with the following solutions,

1     GPI and ITC should start awareness against illegal cigarette via visibility at the shops where they do their cigarette advertisements.

2       One-quarter of compulsory awareness by these company might result in minimizing consumption of the illegal cigarettes.

3       I have come to know that most illegal cigarettes are counterfeit cigarettes which is nothing but a copy of the OG. So awareness on the ground of counterfeit and illicit will be made people not buying illegal or counterfeit cigarettes.

4      Most of the time it has been seen that illegal or counterfeit cigarettes import from China and Indonesia so we can use a message including the name of china for illegal cigarettes to curb this issue. Indian people are not happy with china and its products and due to COVID- 19 people are really upset about china.

5       From my perspective, India should work upon this point to curb illegal and counterfeit cigarettes.
6       Tobacco Institute of India has been working on these issues but it has been seen that local authority does not take action on this issue.

7       Public awareness, high surveillance and proper management of COTPA regulations are the main keys to curb illicit cigarettes.
